Chacewater Village Hall

OLD HALL 1934 - 2000

The hall in 1999 Chacewater Village Hall was built in 1934.  Unfortunately the walls and butresses were built using concrete from mine waste which means that they are full of 'mundic'.  This condition is sometimes called 'concrete cancer' and there is no cure for it.  The concrete crumbles away in time.  The cause is the arsenic in the waste which gets damp and swells.
Grants are not available for buildings with mundic block - so the hall has now been demolished and a new hall has been built.

The new Village Hall has 1 main hall plus 2 smaller rooms and will be fully accessible to all.  It has a wheelchair lift to the upper floor and an induction loop to assist the hard of hearing in the main hall.
