Chacewater Old Cornwall Society –
Mr Ivor Corkell is the Honorary Secretary of the Federation of Old Cornwall Societies and he is a keen photographer. He told us about “Images of England”, an online photographic archive of listed buildings, and displayed many pictures that he had taken as part of the project. An amazing variety of buildings can be seen at http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/ and if the photos that we saw at our last meeting are an example of the entire collection, it is a wonderful historical record of constructions pictured at the turn of the 21st century.
Ivor also took great delight in telling us about some of the people he had met during the time that he was recording the buildings and it was an example to us all to take photographs around our beautiful Duchy.
Members are asked to note the changes to the end of the current season.
As you can see in the events listings at the front of What’s On, the meeting on 14th May will now be a guided visit to Billy Bray’s Chapel at Kerley. Please meet in the chapel car park at 7pm.
The following Monday – 21st May – Christine Parnell will take us on a walk around parts of the city. Please meet at the front of the Cathedral at 7pm. It will be a gentle, unhurried walk and it will not last longer than 1 hour.
Carol Heathcote
