At the Annual General meeting of the Chacewater Millennium Green Trust last month, we were told that the final part of the grant from the Countryside Agency has now been received and that the project is now virtually complete.
John Carley stood down as Chairman. John had played a very big part in the project from its planning to its completion. He was thanked for all his hard work. John will remain a Trustee of the Millennium Green and will continue to support its work.
Richard White was elected Chairman for the forthcoming year. Carol Heathcote and Brenda Bailey remain as secretary and treasurer respectively.
The Trustees are planning to enhance the wildlife area by planting young wild flower plants. These will need to be looked after and we look forward to working with the school children from Chacewater CP School.
The hedges around the Green need trimming to stop them encroaching to far onto the Green and to prevent them from overshadowing the young trees planted at the top of the Green. A working party will be getting together on the weekend of 20th & 21st October. Volunteers who would like to help are asked to contact Roy Bailey (01872) 560485 beforehand so that we can arrange teams of helpers. If you have tools that you could bring it would be very helpful.
On 5th November the Trustees will be working with the Carnival Committee for your entertainment. The Carnival Committee will be arranging the fireworks whilst the Millennium Green Trustees will provide the bonfire.
